This founding document belongs together with its appendices (see following pages) and serves as the foundation for the universal Kevalajñānavinayatāpasya-saṅgha. It can and may be improved by the founder or his successor, ācārya and/or upādhyāya, so long as it remains within the confines of the Jain āgamas and serves the spiritual path of acquiring the 5 types of knowledge and purifying the 5 types of behavior of the individual member.
