Story or THE (INVESTIGATION) GATE of the Lion and the Bull [7 of 90]
If someone has amassed wealth and does not use it mercifully and distribute it lovingly, but instead hoards and hides it away in the earth, so that the owner appears like a poor and destitute person who owns nothing, then it will inevitably be lost, or given to others, or remain hidden in the earth. It is then like a pond that has many tributaries but no outlet, and which, when it contains a great deal of water, sometimes develops a crack, causing its water to run out uselessly. Sometimes, however, such a pond is spared the damage caused by the crack, and the water remains in it, but is then dried up by a fierce wind.[1]
Likewise, wealth that is not used compassionately for the needy will suffer when death withers the limbs of its owners. ( Example of the 1st thing, omitting the 4th means )
Thereupon, the sons of this merchant accepted their father's advice, etc.
...“[He who acquires wealth] but does not spend it wisely is like a pit into which water constantly flows, without any outlet from which a corresponding portion of the water can flow out; which can then easily and suddenly crack, causing its water to be spilled uselessly. And the pleasures and possessions for which he has accumulated and acquired vanish from him as if he had never possessed anything.”
