Story or THE (INVESTIGATION) GATE of the Lion and the Bull [11 of 90]

Damnag said: "What was that about the monkey?"

    Kalilag told:

Once upon a time, there lived a carpenter splitting wood with two wedges. A monkey watched him as he sat astride the wood. After the carpenter had driven the wedges into the wood, he pulled out the front one and went about his business. The monkey, preoccupied with something that was none of his business, came along and straddled the wood in the same way, so that his chest was pressed against the wedge, and he tried to snap the wood back together. But, without realizing it, his testicles fell into the split. When he pulled out the wedge, his testicles were trapped in the crack, and he lost consciousness. Moreover, he suffered further harm afterward, which he received at the hands of the carpenter.

"Those who meddle in matters that do not concern them will end up like the monkey in the fable."
