Story or THE (INVESTIGATION) GATE of the Lion and the Bull [21 of 90]

    Damag said:

“Behold, for a long time I have been at the gate of my master, to present myself to him. For at the gate of the mighty one has sundry need, and nothing is destroyed, but even a stick thrown on the ground can occasionally be used, for it happens that someone scratches their ear with it to clean it; let alone sensible beings who know how to distinguish good from evil.”

The lion was pleased that the man was so diligent, had such a sharp mind, was peaceful and affectionate, and could patiently endure rejection. Therefore, he spoke to his retinue:

“Behold a man of eagerness who, however much he may have fallen into contempt and poverty, can never deny his nature and his kind, just like a burning log which, however much one may turn its tip downwards, cannot help but let its glow shine upwards.”
